The Thrug is Purr-fect for Us in Winter

I stumbled upon a fantastic find at a local thrift store: a 5 x 7 foot faux sheepskin rug. It’s a beautiful, pristine white and incredibly soft to the touch. While it looks like a traditional rug, it’s not designed to be left on the floor like one. It’s much too delicate for heavy foot traffic and would quickly become worn or damaged.

I call it a thrug. It’s a combination of “throw” and “rug.” It resembles a large, luxurious throw blanket more than a rug. And the best part? It’s machine washable!

I removed my 3-inch thick memory foam mattress (double sized) topper from my bed and placed it on the floor. To keep the topper clean, I covered it with a queen-sized flat sheet and a fitted sheet. I then put large pee pads on top. Then the thrug is laid.

Comfortable playground and bedding for the Herd

I’ve observed a fascinating dynamic with my Herd. They seem to gravitate towards me when I’m on the thrug. It’s as if my presence at their level fosters a sense of kinship. This closeness brings ease. This shift in perspective appears to bridge a gap, encouraging them to interact and bond with me more readily.

The thrug, in essence, transforms into a communal space where our connection deepens and our relationship flourishes. It’s a simple yet profound way to nurture the harmony within our shared living space.

Especially for Wolfie the Wobbly

I want to create an engaging and enriching environment for Wolfie the Wobbly. I’ve designed a unique play area that also serves as a comfortable bed.

I strategically arrange a collection of items. These include a plush pillow, a sturdy doorstopper, a playful stuffed snake, and a cozy cat bed. The combination of textures, shapes, and hidden surprises transforms a simple multi-dimensional landscape for Wolfie to explore.

Wolfie, with his wobbly gait and playful spirit, navigates this 3-D art installation with ease and enthusiasm. The thrug playground has become his haven, a place where he can frolic, relax, and indulge his senses.

It’s a testament to the power of creativity and resourcefulness in crafting a fulfilling environment for our cherished animal companions.

And I stretch and relax with them, too!

The thrug, especially when placed on the memory foam topper, is my favorite spot to relax and stretch.  This is particularly important because our home has mainly hard floors and no carpet.

The addition of the topper elevates the experience, providing a cushioning haven that my body deeply appreciates.

Notice the book is well worn with cat teeth marks.
I stretch as much as possible when the cat joins me.

Furthermore, I find it incredibly rewarding and fulfilling when the Herd joins me in my endeavors. Their presence brings me a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.

The thrug can be a space saver

I transform the bed into a chaise lounge for guests by folding the mattress topper into thirds. Then, I place the small bean bag at one end for back support. Then I conceal it with the folded thrug and a blanket.

Humour…

Trying to show you the book
Of course, Tanna won’t do “Urdhva Padasana”
Neither will Broken Leg do “Merudandsana”
