Cat cafes are popular in Japan
Japan has about 150 cat cafes, mainly in Toyko. Due to small living spaces in apartments, keeping a cat or dog is often not possible for many residents. This has led to a surge in popularity of cat cafes, also known as neko cafes.
Cat cafes are located in multi-story buildings on higher floors. They are not at street level. You can find them in most major cities in Japan.
Typical rules apply. Customers are welcome to take pictures, but please refrain from using flash. Feel free to pet the cats, but please do not pick them up unless they approach you. Please remove your shoes and put on the provided slippers. Please do not feed the cats any outside food.
Friend visits a cat cafe in busy Toyko city
My dear friend, Shannon Parsons of Missoula made a trip to Japan with her husband recently. She has a fondness for cats. I asked her to check out a cat cafe on her itinerary. Here she sent me the pictures and a brief video.
..I went to a cat cafe! It was wonderful for me especially with Russ allergic, to get and play with cats for an hour in Japan! I showed the owner your blog and photos. She enjoyed the photos of your cats watching the turkeys!

Cat Cafe-Asakusa Nekoen
I checked out the cat cafe link. The menu at the cat cafe I looked into included beer. It’s worth noting that selling alcohol has stricter regulations in the US.
