When I first saw Jackson Galaxy’s book Catification at a thrift store seven years ago, I was immediately intrigued. I had always been a cat lover, and I was curious to learn more about how to make my home more cat-friendly. I skimmed through the book and was impressed by Galaxy’s insights into cat behavior. I decided to buy the book and have been using it ever since to create a happy and healthy environment for my cats.

I have found that Catification is a valuable resource for any cat owner. It is full of helpful tips on how to create a stimulating and enriching environment for your cat, as well as how to address common behavioral problems. If you are looking for ways to improve your relationship with your cat, I highly recommend reading Catification. After arriving home, I poured red wine into my Riedel glass and read the book from beginning to end in one sitting. I was so engrossed in the book that I forgot to eat dinner.  When I finished reading it, I immediately went online to find Galaxy’s other book, Catify to Satisfy. I couldn’t wait to read it! Those books transformed my life. I started coming up with ideas for catification and got to work.

Until then, I had a maximum of three cats for many years, but after reading Galaxy’s books, I was inspired to have a larger furry family. I was excited about the possibilities and the opportunity to give more cats a loving home.

I had fostered cats before and cared for a couple of my friends’ cats. I decided to foster again to expand my fur family. I learned about AniMeals, a local no-kill animal shelter, and decided to foster through them.

AniMeals is a non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates homeless animals. They provide food, shelter, and medical care for the animals in their care. AniMeals also works to find permanent homes for the animals they rescue. Some of the cats that AniMeals rescues are unadoptable due to health or behavioral issues. However, AniMeals still provides these cats with a safe and loving environment until they can find a suitable home. I reached out to AniMeals to volunteer my time and help care for these special cats.

In the meantime, I continued to make my home and yard more cat-friendly. Cat trees allow your cat to climb, scratch, and hide, while tunnels provide them with a place to explore and play. Cat shelvings give your cat a high place to perch and survey their surroundings, and scratching posts help to keep their claws in good condition. Finally, plenty of toys keep your cat entertained and prevent them from getting bored. I also made sure that there were plenty of places for my cats to hide and nap. My house is still a work in progress, but it is definitely cat-approved! I know that the work will never be truly finished, as my cats will always find new ways to make their mark on my home. But that’s okay, because I love having my furry friends around.
